Tatra mountains – from Grzes through Rakon to Volovec

It is 10 PM on Friday and packing to Tatra mountains is still on the way. You are making sandwiches. For many reasons sandwiches taste so much better at the top, where there is a silence, clean air and you know you did your best to deserve them. A thought is circling in your mind “Sleep, you will miss it so much tomorrow”. The trip starts from Krakow at 5:20 AM to arrive to Siwa Polana Parking at around 7:20 AM. On a way you pass a beautiful sunrise view behind snowy Tatras. The hike from Siwa Polana to Polana Chocholowska…

Rabat – the less known capital of Morocco and Unesco World Heritage Site

Imagine reading through The Economist prognosis for changes in 2018 while taking a train from Marrakech to Rabat, passing by Casablanca. At one point you come across a page with news on improvements to train system in Morocco. The note actually says that the new trains will be almost twice as fast as they currently are on a way from Marrakech to Moroccan capital… (sic!) Casablanca. At one point I was speechless. Was I mixing something, did I not do proper reading about the country I am visiting to the point as not to recognise the capital properly or, which…

On a way to Erg Chebbi Dunes in Moroccan Sahara

The trip has started at unreasonable 7 AM. No one from the group known, but positive attitude maintained at all times. Turned out the group was ideal Bezos’ two pizza team, easy to make decisions with and keep on moving. The trip as planned was taken through Atlas mountains at the hight of 2260 m on Tfizi n’Tichka pass, Ait Ben Haddou UNESCO heritage site and movies set, Ouarzazate, Tinghir, grand Boumalne Dades and eventually to Merzouga with its Erg Chebbi sand dunes. While it was one of the most organized part of my seven days Morocco trip, I must…

Experience Marrakech

There are places that can be described with many words and there are some, like Marrakech, that better explained when seen. It is the first time that I had trouble to reduce the number of pictures I wanted to share. So here is a long one of Marrakech so far out of my week long Morocco trip, pictures of amazing places like Bahia Palace, Jardins Majorelle, Jemaa el-Fna, YSL Museum, La Mamounia, Koutoubia and a few others.

Polish Baltic seaside, where wind is strong and air is fresh

There is a place in Poland where strong wind blows, air is pollution-free and sea is super clean. Gdansk, Sopot and Gdynia or commonly known as Tricity is a metropolitan area of Pomeranian region. Filled with maritime ebb, very much non Polish architecture shaped by number of merchants over time, and Polish Solidarity strong national patriotic vibe, Gdansk is one of the places you can easily find yourself enjoying on a very different levels. It is especially magical during winter time with Christmas market offering lots of childish fun and not so childish grzaniec (hot wine). Though be careful walking…

In love with Tatra mountains

One of the first winter walks this year in Polish Tatra mountains was nice and easy, can be easily made in up to 4 hours. Starting from Palenica Bialczanska parking, the blue path leads to Rusinowa Polana and subsequently green one to Gesia Szyja. Even though not as much seen as expected as weather decided to be quite moody, the walk, snow, peace and quiet was all worth it. Love Tatra mountains.

Exploring Poland in Kashubia region

Consisting of many lakes and natural parks, Kashubia (Kaszuby) region in Poland is one of those places where you will manage to completely escape busy city life. With its own distinct culture and language, Kashubia has been on and off under Polish and German influence but manage to preserve its uniqueness. The region is stretching as far as 100km southwest of Gdańsk. Once there you would be surprised by the natural beauty. It is sometimes called Poland’s little Switzerland. Bory Tucholskie National Park can serve as an ideal scenery for a fantasy movie the likes of Lord of the Rings….
